Campus Space Renovations
Plans and Project Update
Conceptual Design and Site Plans
The Campus Space Renovation Program has passed a very significant milestone: St. Michael’s Vestry has voted unanimously to approve the Renovation Committee’s Program and Financing Plans for the Campus Space Renovation. Thank you to all on the Campus Space Committee, Finance Committee and Vestry and to all in the parish who have helped us to grow, plan, and discern the general outlines of the Renovation. We are now moving forward to more detailed and refined design plans for construction, working with the architect, HGA, and construction contractor, AP Thomas. We expect to submit plans to the County in early March and to have permits and final bids by mid-May. Construction is scheduled to begin June 12, right after school lets out, and will take about four months. Rev. Mary has been working closely with the Altar Guild to make plans for Sunday worship in Johnstone Hall during construction. Please stay tuned for more information on our temporary sojourn to Johnstone Hall.
The Renovation will dramatically transform St. Michael’s church buildings with important upgrades that will remove hazardous materials, make long-overdue upgrades to roofing, flooring and finishes, create more functional education spaces, and enhance lighting, acoustics and the configuration of our worship space to make it consistent with the theology that we practice. Please join me in strongly supporting this program to invest in ourselves, improve our educational facilities, and transform St. Michaels’ worship space in a dramatic and effective way.
