Music Ministry
Chancel Choir
Choral music is an integral part of Episcopal identity: Choral music has a ancient and honored role in Anglican liturgical tradition. Beginning with the strains of the prelude, the congregational singing, and the blended voices of the choir, music lifts the worshiper into the presence of God. St. Michael’s Chancel Choir is now directed by Dr. John Cozza. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm from mid-September through mid-June. They prepare special music for the holy seasons of Lent, Easter, and Christmas, as well as occasional concerts and programs. Each Fall they take a retreat weekend for fellowship and extended music rehearsal.
CHOIR NEWS
Constance Weichert announced earlier this year that she will be retiring January 7, 2018. We are very grateful for Connie's dedicated, professional, and excellent service for the past 30 years! She was going to come for two weeks and stayed for three decades. We were very fortunate to have her. She has been an amazing leader and a superb pastoral guide to the choir. Connie and her husband Jim will continue to be part of the St. Michael's community. We are excited to celebrate with Connie and Jim her 30 years of service at St. Michael's this Saturday, February 10th 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Parish Hall at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Sacramento, 2391 St. Marks Way.
