Ways to Serve God in Worship

ACOLYTES

Acolytes assist the clergy with worship leadership during worship service.  They lead processions, illuminate the word with their torches, raise the spirit in the church with flying doves, assist in the proclamation of the Gospel, and assist the priest and deacon at the altar.  Children in grades 6 through 12 serve in this ministry for the 10 a.m. service and are encouraged to serve in this ministry.  Adults fill the acolyte role at the 8 a.m. service.  If you are interested in this ministry, please email Pam Busby.

ALTAR GUILD

Members of the Altar Guild take care of the Church, especially the sanctuary, for worship. They care for the all things liturgical and the worship space.  This ministry is for people who are drawn to the practical aspects of liturgy as well as those who want to serve God in a quiet and “behind the scene” kind of way.  If you are interested in this ministry, please email Janice Bowdler.

GREETERS & USHERS

Greeters welcome members of the parish as well as any visitors.  They are there to answer any questions someone worshipping might have.  If you are interested in this ministry, please email Diane Hegland.

Ushers keep the flow of the service going smoothly.  They pass out the bulletins, they assist with the offerings, they tidy the church after the service, and they are there to help in any emergencies that arise.  They are very knowledgeable and can answer most questions if you need some help.  If you are interested in this ministry, please email Doug Davy.

HEALING PRAYER MINISTERS

The first Sunday of the month, members of the Healing Prayer team are available to pray with people who are in need of private prayer.    If you are interested in this ministry, please email Pat Cole.

LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

Lay Eucharistic Ministers serve the chalice at the altar rail for each of our Sunday services.  After training, they are licensed by the Bishop. If you are interested in this ministry, please call or email Deacon Cindy at 916-488-3550 ext. 20.

LAY READERS

Lay readers read the two Scripture passages, lead the Psalm and lead the Prayers of the People.  Youth are invited into this ministry as well as adults.  If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Rev. Mary.
